Mitch Levine is a regular host of many of Hollywood's Conversations With..., has written, produced and directed tributes to many of the world's greatest cinema artists, and was the founding producer and host of the AFI's Great Filmmakers series. He has presented, moderated or directed tributes featuring George Clooney, Quincy Jones, Brad Pitt, Angelica Huston, Sharon Stone, Elton John, Kanye West, Versace, Guns n Roses, Jonah Hill, Kathryn Bigelow, Jessica Chastain, Charlize Theron, Rachel Weisz, Julianne Moore, Jessica Lange, Leslie Caron, Rutger Hauer, Antonio Banderas, Elmer Bernstein, Salvatore Ferragamo, Donald Sutherland, Tab Hunter, Philip Kaufman, Charlton Heston, Janet Leigh, Lynn Redgrave, Edward G. Robinson, Ang Lee, Stephen Frears, Bruce Beresford, Christopher Nolan, Stephen Daldry, Edward Zwick, Roland Joffe, Franco Zeffirelli, Rob Reiner, Julie Taymor, Gregory Nava, Barry Levinson, Tom Ford, Julie Taymor, David O. Russell, Neil LaBute, Robert Altman, Norman Jewison and many others.  He recently produced tributes to Nicholas Cage, hosted by Sean Connery, to Clint Eastwood, hosted by Tony Bennett and Dustin Hoffman, to Darren Aronofsky, hosted by Martin Scorsese and Ellyn Burstn, and to Don Cheadle, hosted by Halle Berry.  Mitch has chaired or participated on panels focusing on almost every aspect of the art and craft of cinema and the performing arts. He directed Film Independent's Spirit of Independence Award and regularly presents his seminar, Preparing Your Film for the Global Marketplace, around the world.

 

Mitch is the founder and president of The Film Festival Group, a global consulting firm for film festivals, filmmakers and distribution companies.  He served as Executive Director and CEO of the Palm Springs International Film Festivals, produced the first Bahamas International Film Festival, the first International Emerging Talent Film Festival in Monaco, First Time Fest in New York and served for many years as the Production Director of the LA Film Festival and AFI Fest.

 

Mitch is also a film and stage director with credits the world over in theatre, film, opera and dance. His short drama IN CONFIDENCE screened at last year’s Cannes Film Festival and his dance documentary, MORPHING GRAVITY, is currently in post-production. Mitch is currently preparing two stage productions, GOD HELP US, a political comedy starring Ed Asner; and the classic Swiss drama THE VISIT, starring Barbara Bain. He was the recipient of the first James Cameron Fellowship in Directing at the American Film Institute, where he directed COLETTE, based on the French writer; STALE IDENTITY, an homage to Hitchcock and film noir; and SHADOWS, a multi-award winning exploration of love, family and the attraction of evil during the Holocaust. Most recently, he directed nine episodes of the sit-com, LIVING & LEARNING and the documentary feature, HUNGRY IS THE TIGER, which focuses on the food crisis in India and Indonesia and utilizes traditional Javanese performance as the narrative spine of the film. Preceding his directorial and film festival careers, he was a Special Representative to the United Nations Disarmament Programmes.
